Simple Beauty

No I did not forget.  I just did laundry all day!  Campmeeting was nice, but I am GLAD to be home.

While I was there I heard this phrase.  Made me stop and think.  It is so easy to let everything crowd in and we miss what God is trying to say to us.  I know, not everyone gets excited about flowers, but take the time to enjoy what God has created.  That is just one way He speaks to us.

Have a wonderful week!!

Gone Fishing

I am lucky to have e-mail capability here in Soquel.  Campmeeting is going well.  Some years we are so hot we can hardly stand it.  But this year it is COLD.  The last two days we barely saw the sun.
I think you will see the meaning of the poster.  When I was at Leo’s graduation, one of the speakers themes was about making money four our selves or “fishing” for the Lord.  I really like the twist, because we usually see fishing as being lazy and kicking back.  So my challenge is for you to go fishing everyday.

Purple

I am having a quiet, restful (?) summer.  Doing things like taking out all the carpeting so we can put down wood floors.  Tomorrow we head off to campmeeting.  The nice thing is that I will still have internet access where I will be working.

Sabbath we went for a walk at Oso Flaco.  Took a bunch of pictures.  This one got me thinking about the color of purple.  I really like the idea that a mixture of blue and red equals purple and the perfect mixture of wisdom and love is what Christ is.  I will never look at the color of purple in the same way again.

I think I may to put a few purple reminders in my life to help lift my thoughts to Christ throughout the day.  Simple things like a purple pencil, pen, keychain or ribbon may be just the thing to help us to remember to count to 10 and ask for wisdom to treat others in a Christlike manner.
Have a great week!

Still Waters

California is still burning!  But the number of fires is down to 330.  Looks like we are in for a lot of smoke and ash this year.  Last week I was taking out the trash and glanced over at the flowers in front of the house.  The sprinklers had just turned off and the sun was just coming through.  The whole area was covered diamonds of water drops.  I grabbed my camera and took a bunch of pictures.  Even without closeup lenses I was able capture the experience.

It is amazing how, if we just look around, God provides such beautiful reminders of His love for each of us.  There was no reason to create water to glisten and reflect, but He did!  There are several things we can learn from this, like look for the “silver lining” or “things go better with a smile.”  I’m sure you can come up with more if you take time to “reflect” on this.
